If a user is using the WinSlate with touch access or with a mouse (including head mouse), various settings can be customized for ease of access based on the user's needs.
1. Select Menu in the upper left-hand corner, then Settings.
2. In the Mind Express 5 Settings, select Access.
3. In the left-hand Access listing, select Mouse/Touch. Below are the available settings you can customize.
Click the
next to any setting for an explanation of that setting.
Selection Settings
Choose the way selections are made.
When pressing: Selection is made on mouse press.
When releasing: Selection is made on mouse release.
Dwell: Selection will be made when the mouse dwells over a selection for a certain amount of time. No "click" is necessary for the selection.
Dwell via touch: The dwell time for a selection begins when there is a "click" or touch. The mouse is pressed and held for a selection to be made.
Delay time after selection: After a selection is made, any additional selection is ignored for a certain period of time. This prevents a user from selecting the same cell multiple times in a row accidentally.
Indicator Settings
Change how the mouse appears on the screen and whether there is auditory feedback.
Choose mode: Choose if there is a visual indication when selecting (clicking) an item, or when pointing to an item. If you choose When pointing from the drop down, there is also the option to hide the mouse pointer so only the visual indicator settings show on the screen. This can be useful for users who may get distracted by the mouse cursor on the screen.
Visual indicator: Choose what happens visually when selecting or pointing with the mouse, and change the color of the indicator.
Enlarge cell: Choose if a cell is enlarged when selecting or pointing
Sound when selecting: Toggle on for a "click" to sound on selection.
Auditory Feedback Settings
Toggle this on for auditory feedback when pointing to items on the screen. Adjust the various voice settings for the auditory feedback (this should be different than the system voice the user speaks with)
When you're satisfied with your mouse/touch settings, click OK.
