With play-based learning in mind, Forbes AAC has created Language Development Kits (LDK) as a companion accessory to Forbes AAC WinSlate devices. This allows users to control infrared toys remotely via the WinSlate using their preferred access method (touch, switches, head mouse, eye gaze, etc.).
The Language Development Kit includes the following:
- Clinical Protocols: Developed by Speech and Language Pathologists who specialize in AAC, the included clinical protocols include lesson plans, goal banks, and data tracking sheets.
- Ready-to-Use Gridsets: Professionally developed, WinSlate-compatible gridsets specific to each toy. Gridsets are fully programmed with infrared commands and activity-specific vocabulary.
-
5 Infrared Toys
- Dinosaur
- Puppy
- Robot
- Unicorn

Note: Toys may vary. The above represents the current list as of February 2026.
The Language Development Kit is a communication device accessory (E2599) and can be funded by a variety of insurance plans.
