The "Quick fill" tool within Mind Express allows you to quickly fill up to 12 cells at once without having to edit each cell individually. This can be useful to...
-
Efficiently create standalone topic-specific pagesets.
-
Fill new blank pages within existing pagesets.
-
Quickly fill empty cells on pre-programmed pages within existing pagesets.
This article explains how to use the "Quick fill" tool.
First, decide where you would like to use the "Quick fill" tool.
First, you'll need to decide if you'd like to create a standalone pageset separate from the AAC User's existing pageset, or if you would like to use "Quick fill" to fill empty cells on a page within an existing pageset.
If you would like to create a standalone pageset...
- Follow steps 1-4 from this article: How do I create a new pageset?
If you would like to quickly fill buttons within an existing pageset...
You can either:
- Create a new page within the pageset: How do I copy an existing page to use as a template for a new page?
- Identify an existing page with several empty cells that you would like to fill
Next, use the "Quick fill" to efficiently fill empty cells.
Regardless of if you are using a newly created pageset or the AAC User's existing pageset, the steps are the same from here.
- Go to the page that you would like to edit.
-
If you are not already in "Edit Mode," select "Menu" in the upper left corner of the screen and then select "Edit" from the dropdown menu. You are now in "Edit Mode," and the "Edit Menu" should be visible on the right side of the screen.
-
To begin adding words, select an empty button. Then, select the "Multiple cells" dropdown in the "Edit Menu."
-
You will need to select all of the cells you would like to fill. To select multiple cells at once, click the "Select" button from the "Multiple cells" dropdown in the "Edit Menu." Then, click on each cell you would like to fill. Any selected cell will have 8 dots around its border.
Please note: 12 is the maximum number of cells you can fill at once.
-
Next, select "Quick fill" from the "Multiple cells" menu. In this example, we will be creating a word list, but you can also select images saved on the WinSlate to populate to the individual cells by selecting "Images from disk."
-
Type the words/images you would like to appear in each cell in the box. Each word should be on a new line. Once finished, press "OK."
-
The words you typed into the box will populate into each cell, along with a default image. A speech action (that matches the label) will also be added to each button automatically as part of the "Quick fill" process.
-
You can change the images based on preference by clicking an individual button you would like to change and then selecting the "Image" button
in the "Edit Menu." More about this can be found here: How do I change a button's image, label, and speech message?
-
Once you have completed your changes...
-
Select the green check button in the lower right corner of the "Edit Menu."
-
Press the floppy disk save button in the upper left corner of the screen to save your changes.
-
