There are 3 main loan options from Forbes AAC:
- Clinician Loans
- End User Loans
- Evaluation Kits
All loans must be initiated by SLPs. More information about loan restrictions and requirements can be found here: Are there any specific Loan Library guidelines or restrictions?
Descriptions of each loan type can be found below.
Option 1: Clinician Loan 📌 Ideal for device evaluations in your clinic or preparing for client trials (the device must stay with the SLP and cannot be sent home with patients)
- Equipment checked out as a "Clinician Loan" must stay with the SLP for the duration of the trial period (equipment cannot be sent home with an AAC user/their family)
- The SLP can use the trial equipment with multiple patients during evaluations/therapy sessions
- "Clinician Loans" a maximum of 4 weeks in length. This timeline may be extended if Funding Packets are being regularly submitted as this indicates to our team that the device is being used.

Accessories
- You may request mounts/switches/keyguards/etc. with your device, but this could lengthen the wait for a loan device. If you would like the device to be shipped ASAP (even if the requested accessory is not yet available), please let your local Assistive Technology Specialist know!
- One keyguard per device may be requested (must be a standard configuration - custom keyguards are not available for loan devices)
Option 2: End User Loan 📌 Ideal if the patient/family would like to trial the device outside of the therapy session (this device can go home with an individual patient/family)
- Equipment checked out as an "End User Loan" is assigned to a specific individual, and can go home with that AAC user and their family
- All loans in this category require a benefits check to ensure that a high-tech device is a covered benefit for that patient's insurance plan
- "End User Loans" a maximum of 4 weeks in length. The loan may be extended for one 2-week extension should there be unforeseen or medical circumstances. No further extensions are able to be granted.

Option 3: Evaluation Kit 📌 Ideal if you already have an iPad with software, and would just like to place it in a durable case with a speaker and handle!
- SLPs often have access to free/low-cost AAC software that they download onto their personal and/or clinic iPads. Unfortunately, standard off-the-shelf iPad cases sometimes don't offer all of the features that come with the cases associated with funded communication devices. To help bridge this gap, we offer our ProSlate cases on loan to SLPs.

- "Evaluation Kit Loans" start on a 6-month loan and can be renewed.
