There may be situations where it is helpful to have more than one of our SnapLock Keyguards for a single AAC user. Examples might include:
- The AAC user has fine motor access skills that fluctuate throughout the day, and you want them to have different keyguard options to support these changes.
- The configuration of the buttons on their device changes based on the page they are using in their vocabulary file (i.e. switching between a keyboard, educational learning pages, and their communication board), and different keyguards are required to match the various layouts.
- When a client demonstrates growth in both fine motor and linguistic abilities, it can be beneficial to reconsider grid size. While maintaining consistent motor planning remains an important consideration, improvements in fine motor control may allow them to access a larger grid, thus supporting greater linguistic expansion and efficiency.
- Progressive Keyguard Sets can serve as backup keyguards, ensuring the user has a replacement readily available if one becomes damaged or misplaced. This can help to prevent interruptions in device access.
With a "Progressive Keyguard Set," you can order anywhere between 2-5 keyguards for one user. These keyguard sets can contain a combination of different keyguards in multiple different...
- Layouts (i.e. number/location of buttons),
- Opening formats (i.e. opening shapes/sizes), and/or
- Colors (i.e. a combination of black, clear keyguard, and clear matte keyguards).
