How do I import additional voices into Mind Express?

Mind Express comes pre-programmed with several voices, but you may want to import some additional options!  This article will walk you through how to add more voices to Mind Express.

Note:  Your WinSlate must be "unlocked" to import additional voices.  More information about that process can be found here:  How do I "unlock" my Forbes AAC device?

1. Choose "Menu" in the upper left corner, and then select "Settings" in the sidebar.

   

2. Select "Speech" from the menu.

   

3. Select "Install more voices?"  This link will take you to the list of voices available voices:  Voices - Jabbla

   

4. Review the list and click the link that corresponds to the voice you would like to import.  In this example, Lisa was selected.

   

5. The voice you selected will begin downloading automatically.  Follow the instructions in the installer.
6. Once the installation is complete, close the Mind Express program by pressing the "X" in the upper right corner of the screen.  
7. Click on the Mind Express desktop icon to re-open the program
8. When Mind Express re-opens, open the "Speech Menu" again (see steps 1-2 above).

9. The voice you imported will now be available within the dropdown menu.  Select your preferred voice

   

10. Once you've selected your preferred voice, tap "OK" in the lower right corner of the menu.  
11. The voice you selected will now be the default voice when you use your communication software.
