On the ProSlate 13 with Enable Eyes, many of the eye gaze settings are on various pages within the "Settings" app, and the calibration tool is within the "Hiru" app. This means that there is often a certain amount of navigation that needs to take place to access these essential tools.
Irisbond, the eye gaze camera manufacturer, has created shortcuts to allow users and their communication partners to more easily access these tools. These shortcuts are automatically loaded onto funded devices as of June 8, 2026. If you received your device prior to this date, this article provides instructions regarding how to access and use these shortcuts.
Please note: The device must be unlocked to access the shortcut downloads. If your device is locked/dedicated, please contact our Technical Support Team for assistance.
Download the Shortcuts to your ProSlate 13 EE
-
On your ProSlate 13 EE, go to the Shortcuts Library.
- The Shortcuts Library is on the Irisbond website. This is the direct URL: https://knowledge.irisbond.com/en/shortcutslibrary
-
On this page, you will see a variety of shortcut options. The most popular include:
- Positioning Hiru App - Takes you to the positioning guide within the Hiru app
- Dwell Time - Takes you to the page in iOS Accessibility Settings where you can adjust dwell time
- Hiru Settings - Takes you to the page in iOS Accessibility Settings where you can adjust Smoothing, Snap-to-Item, and Autohide
- Pointer Control - Takes you to the page in the iOS Accessibility Settings where you can adjust the size and color of the indicator (mouse/box you see on the screen as you move your eyes)
- Identify which shortcut you would like to add (you can only download one at a time, but you can add multiple shortcuts by following these same steps).
-
Select "Download" under your chosen shortcut.
- You will automatically be redirected to the "Shortcuts" app. Select "Add Shortcut."
- The shortcut you downloaded will now appear in your shortcut list (along with any others that you have previously downloaded/created).
- To access this shortcut, users can open the "Shortcuts" app
and click on the shortcut they would like to initiate. That said, it may also be helpful for the AAC User (and their communication partners) to have access to shortcuts in additional locations. See the next section for additional programming options.
Program Additional Shortcut Locations to Optimize Accessibility
Now that you have the shortcuts created, you want them to be in a location that's easy for the AAC user (and their communication partners to access). The shortcuts can always be accessed from the "Shortcuts" app, but you may want to add them to the Assistive Touch Menu and/or to the Home Page of the device for even easier access!
Add the Shortcut to the Assistive Touch Menu
- Open Settings
- Tap “Accessibility," and then "Touch."
- Select "Assistive Touch."
- Select "Customize Top Level Menu."
- Select the location where you would like the shortcut to appear. A list of programming options will appear. Scroll down to the "Shortcuts" section and select the shortcut you would like to program in that location.
- You will now see the shortcut in the location you selected.
-
Now when you open the Assistive Touch menu
the shortcut you programmed will appear.
Add the Shortcut to the Home Page of the Device
- Open the "Shortcuts" app
- Locate the shortcut that you would like to add to the home page and click the button with the 3 dots in the upper right corner of the shortcut.
- Select the "i" at the top of the screen, and then select "Add to Home Screen."
-
In the menu that appears, you can customize the appearance of the shortcut. Once you have finished customizing, click "Add" in the upper right corner.
- By selecting "Image," you can choose a photo to appear on the shortcut icon.
- By selecting "Symbol," you can customize the appearance of the symbol and color of the shortcut icon.
-
The shortcut will now appear on the home page of the ProSlate 13 Enable Eyes. To change its location...
- Tap and hold the shortcut you would like to move.
- Select "Edit Home Screen." The apps will begin moving.
- Click and drag the shortcut to the desired location.
- Tap anywhere on the screen to finalize the move (the apps will stop moving).
- By selecting "Image," you can choose a photo to appear on the shortcut icon.
Add the Shortcut as a Widget to the Home Page of the Device
This has a similar effect to adding a shortcut icon - just in a slightly different format!
- Tap and hold in any blank space on the screen. The apps will begin wiggling back and forth. Select the "Edit" button in the upper left corner of the screen.
-
Select "Add Widget."
-
Select "Shortcuts."
- You will have multiple different formatting options to choose from. When you identify your preferred format, select the blue "Add Widget" button.
-
Here are examples of what several of the different widget formatting options look like on the home screen.
- If you add a single shortcut as a widget, the icon will be slightly bigger than the standard application size.
- If you choose to group multiple shortcuts within a single widget, the icons will be slightly smaller than the standard application size.
-
To move or delete a widget...
- Click and hold on the widget you would like to move/delete.
-
A menu will appear.
-
To move a widget...
- Select "Edit Home Screen." The apps and widgets on the screen will begin to move.
- Drag the widget you would like to move to its desired location.
- Tap anywhere on the screen to finalize the move (the apps and widgets will stop moving).
-
To delete a widget...
- Select "Remove Widget."
-
